Strange Talk - Lesson Plan


 

PICTURE INTERACTION: 

What do you see in the picture? (The responses from their mother tongue can be accepted) 

What is the colour of the frog?

Where is the frog? 

Subtext:  

Elicit the responses and write it on the board

Green frog

The frog is under the log.  

Narration:  

Once there was a boy named Raju. His uncle had a farmhouse. He had gone to meet his uncle. He had no friends in that village so he spends more time with the green frog. At first, he met a Green frog. 

Raju: good morning, my dear green frog

Green frog: CROACK CROACK. 

Interaction:  

What is the sound it will make? (leave the student to make the sound) 

What is the response of the frog?

Why didn’t it reply in human language?

Did it tell good morning to Raju?

Subtext:   

Write the response on the board,

Croackcroack.’

Reading: 

The teacher should make the student read the first stanza of the poem. 

 Narration:   

Raju went to the pond and saw his friend Ducky Duck. After a long time, they met so he was so happy. 

Raju: hi ducky duck, how are you? 

Ducky duck: Quack Quack

Show the picture in the (page no 160) 

Interaction:   

Where do you see the duck in the picture? (pond/ waterside) 

How does the duck make a sound? 

Did he tell I am fine to Raju?

Subtext:  

The duck is in the waterside. 

QuackQuack… 

Reading: 

Teacher should make the student to read the second stanza of the poem.

 

Picture Interaction:  

What do you see in the picture? 

Is it a fat pig or lean pig?  

What is the name of the house of Pinky pig? 

(If the students answered in their mother tongue, teacher can say it English and ask them to repeat it. Write it on the  BB.) 

How does it make sound

Continue narration:   

Raju, went to meet Pinky pig and asked him to join for the dinner. Pinky pig became so happy but before that he introduces his new friend three little puppies to Raju.  

Interaction:

Did the pinky pig like to go for dinner?  

Did it tell I will join for the dinner?

Subtext:

Write the responses on the board  

A fat pig in the sty.  

Wee, wee

Pinky pig replied “wee,wee” instead of telling I will join for the dinner.

Reading:

Teacher should make the student to read the third stanza of the poem.

Continue narration:

Raju asked the little puppies to have a walk with him.

Raju: hi my cute puppies shall we go for a walk? 

Puppies: bow – bow.

Interaction:

How many puppies are there? 

What is the name of the house of puppies? 

Did the puppies tell they will have a walk?

How the puppies responded?

Subtext:  

Write the responses on the board. 

Three puppies, kennel.

           “BOW BOW”

Reading:  

Teacher should make the student to read the fourth stanza of the poem. 

Discussion:  

How do you feel when everyone talks at the same time? 

Can you hear all of them? 

What will you do at that time? 

Elicit the responses and write it on the board.

We can’t hear anything.

It will be a noise.

Ask children to read the fifth stanza

Reading: 

Individual reading will be followed by the collaborative reading and finally, the teacher should read it aloud for the students. Here the students should listen to the teacher.

Activity:  

Teacher guide: 

Teacher should make the student to match the animals with the house of the animals and also they have to write the name of the house from the box.  

STEP 1:   Ask the students to identify the animal’s name

Step 2:   Make the students to match it with its houses 

Step 3:  Finally write the name of the house.
