Creating an Animal Album
Aim of the project:
The aim of the project is to help students to be able to produce the target language by engaging in an interesting colouring and picture description activity.
Summary of the process:
A description of how to conduct the activity in class along with sample picture of the finished product was given to the teacher. This would help her assist the class.
In this activity, students were given outlines of many animals, which they had to colour and write a 3-4 lines description of the same. The lines could describe the sounds the animals make and their natural characteristic traits.
Preparation of Ideas:
Students were able to identify animal names and also some of their sounds. Students also told about animal characteristics in Tamil. The teacher then helped them write it in English. The idea of how to stick the pictures into a paper and make an album was taught.
Students enjoyed being able to identify animals and their sounds. With little help, they were able to write down the sentences in English. The album which they were able to prepare at the end of the session gave them satisfaction and confidence in being able to use the language, substantially well.
